Castings PLC has acquired the fixed assets and stock of Russell Ductile Castings Limited (“RDC”) from its appointed administrators. RDC, a subsidiary of Chamberlin plc, was an iron foundry producing parts for the capital goods and energy market, some of which are common to the existing Castings group.

The plant offers the capability to manufacture castings with weights ranging from 10kg to 7,000kg in cast iron. The intention is to continue to operate the plant, under the name of Castings Ductile Limited, from the existing site in Scunthorpe over which a new 25-year lease has been agreed.

As well as being able to rescue established manufacturing jobs in the area, the directors believe that the acquisition provides the opportunity to diversify the product offering of the Castings group with an established customer base that the directors are confident of being able to continue to service.

Most of the Castings Ductile team worked for the former company and are in the process of starting up the foundry with an expectation to be in full production by mid-July. The team are in the process of contacting former customers.

More information will be provided over the coming days and weeks, but in the meantime for any enquiries please contact John Ford, Managing Director on 07511 874272.
